Project Overview

The student experience is one of the core use cases of the platform. We had to develop the experience from scratch with limited requirements beyond a grand vision. Moira owned the end-to-end experience and flushed out what needed to be created by continually testing users to get feedback and periodically using tools like surveys to figure out if she was on the right track.

 Dashboard Brainstorming/Ideation Session

We periodically ran brainstorming and ideation sessions to come up with ideas as a group and to help prioritize features to help scope what we should be focusing our attention on.

Card Sorting Exercise

As part of coming up with ideas, we would have an overarching goal and then we would spend time writing ideas on sticky notes. We performed a card sorting exercise from those sticky notes to group related ideas together and to help weight the density of similar ideas.

Priority Weighting

The dashboard project was a forward-thinking project so it was not a priority at the time therefore there was no priority weighting with product involvement. Instead, we weighted importance based on the density of similar ideas. We used this weighting to determine which modules would be most important to show on a student dashboard ahead of user testing with an interface design comp.

The test script used for the learning path user test group.

Learning Path June 2019 Testing Results

The spreadsheet collates results for the user test. Moira did this to help create a snapshot of the results across the test group.
